Little Prelude in B – Ave Maria

About a decade ago when I was still in high school I started studying guitar and while playing with the cords I discovered B9 on the 9th fret.

I was immediately fascinated by the sound. It was wonderfully surreal, celestial. I applied the basic arpeggio that any guitar beginner learns and that’s how the first version of this prelude was born. Shortly after inspired by Gounod/Bach I composed my own Ave Maria to go along with the little prelude in B.

Years later I picked up guitar again and wrote a symphonic arrangement for the piece which is the version you hear at the end of the video. Can’t say this will be the last version.

In the video you can witness all the stages this piece went through: From just a chord, to a prelude, to a religious chant, to an orchestral arrangement.
